When he was 28 years old, Michael Marshman established an architectural design practice at Tathra, NSW. In 1988, the business had grown and this necessitated a move to Bega. Michael Marshman & Associates Pty Ltd was created. Company staff consists of Company Director and Chartered Architect, Michael Marshman, Interior Designer, Gillian McMillan and Office Manager, Pip Marshman.

Michael Marshman and Associates has successfully completed many building projects including commercial, tourist, education, public and government work, houses, restoration, high-density residential, townscape, feasibility studies, forward planning and documentation. 

In 2011, the Australian Institute of Architects, NSW Chapter Country Division presented MMAA with 2 awards at the annual conference held in Coffs Harbour. MMA was honored to receive the award Residential Architecture - Houses New for a project in Tathra, Daniel and Cecilie's House. The Termimesh Timber award was also presented to MMA for the project House for Toby, in Tathra. At the HIA Building Awards in October 2011 House for Toby won 3 awards (including South Coast Home of the Year) and will go on to compete at the national awards in the Special Purpose Housing category.

In 2008, the Australian Institute of of Architects, NSW Chapter Country Division presented MMA with 3 awards:  Affordable Housing, for Kingfisher Road House, Wyndham, Termimesh Timber Award for 'The Outlook' at Kalaru, and Houses - New, a commendation for 'House for Natasha at Kalaru.  In 2007, The Royal Australian Institute of Architects, NSW Chapter Country Division gave the award for Multi Residential, and a commendation for Non Residential Alterations and Additions to Michael Marshman and Associates for the Mirrabooka Townhouses and Bega Education Centre projects respectively.  Several builders who have built projects designed and had the building contract supervised by Michael Marshman and Associates have also received building awards in the annual HIA awards.

Michael Marshman and Associates Pty Ltd presently has the capacity to handle individual commissions up to $15 million. Our new office in Canberra facilitates our communications and service to our Canberra clients.

The office is fully computerised and utilises Archicad 12 cad design software which offers a complete range of three-dimensional design graphics and two dimensional documentation. In addition, it has the ability to convert and down load files, to create high quality perspectives and if required, animations of your proposed project as well as print plans up to A2 size. The Archicad software also offers virtual reality, which allows clients to fully visualise and understand each project, both internally and externally. Archicad is fully compatible with Autocad and other drafting packages.
